Material Knowledge Of Tungsten Carbide Rods  :

The tungsten carbide rods can be composed of two powders of tungsten carbide powder (WC powder) and cobalt powder (Co powder), or it can be composed of three powders of WC powder, TiC powder (titanium carbide powder) and Co powder. It can even be composed of WC powder, TiC powder, TaC powder (tantalum carbide powder), NBC powder (niobium carbide powder), and Co powder. Due to the different composition of the tungsten carbide material, the density of the carbide is also different, but they are almost the same: YG6 alloy density is 14.5-14.9g/cm³, YT5 alloy density is 12.5-13.2g/cm³, YW1 alloy density 12.6-13.5g/cm³.

In general, the density of tungsten-cobalt (YG)  tungsten carbide rods increases with the increase of WC powder content. For example, the density of alloy (YG6 alloy) with 94% WC powder content is 14.5-14.9g/cm³, and the WC powder content is 85% alloy (YG15 alloy) has a density of 13.9-14.2g/cm³.

The gold density of tungsten-titanium-cobalt (YT) carbide decreases with the increase of TiC powder content. For example, the density of alloy (YT5 alloy) with 5% TiC powder content is 12.5-13.2g/cm³, and that of TiC powder content is 15%. Alloy (YT15 alloy) has a density of 11.0-11.7g/cm³.

The grain size of tungsten carbide rods :

The grain size of round rods of cemented carbide: There are 6-grain sizes of tungsten carbide produced by TUNGSTEN MAN. They are:

2.5μm--6.0μm

0.8μm--2.5μm

0.8μm--0.5μm

0.5μm--0.2μm

＜0.2μm

The grain size mentioned here refers to the grain size of tungsten carbide in carbide. The particle size of tungsten carbide rods in carbide is determined by the particle size of the tungsten powder before mixing and the crystallization condition during sintering. Therefore, it is very important to control the particle size of tungsten carbide.

So, why should the grain size of tungsten carbide rods be controlled? Provided all other conditions are the same. The smaller the grain size, the higher the strength and lower the hardness of the tungsten carbide. The larger the grain size, the lower the strength and the higher the hardness of the tungsten carbide.
